Turas Alf / Alf’s Journey

Presented by Macnas in collaboration with Research Ireland.

Alf the Giant Newt is Macnas’ latest Giant for Halloween 2024, with incorporated lighting, soundtrack and special effects.

Alf, a 20m x 5m giant puppet of a Smooth Newt, inspired by the current conversations around climate change and habitat loss, meanders through the city, visiting multiple locations accompanied by drummers, stilted beacons and fire performers.

After being displaced from his beautiful woodland home by human development and climate change we are inviting the community to welcome a weary traveller who is feeling the effects of human development and climate change and needs somewhere safe to call home.”
